Hewitt Contracting Company was founded in 1963 as a Florida Corporation.  It is privately held and owned principally by Mr. Howard Hewitt.  Corporate headquarters is located in Leesburg, Florida with satellite offices strategically placed to best serve our customers.  We have the necessary personnel, equipment, expertise and financial wherewithal to handle a broad range of projects.

     In 1998, Hewitt Contracting Company, Inc. started Hewitt Power & Communications which performs work for municipalities, competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC’s), utilities, private industry and the government.  The communications side of the business focuses on duct and manhole systems; trenching and boring; directional drilling; plowing; tunneling; maintenance; cable pulling and splicing.  Aerial capabilities include pole, guy and anchor placement; cable splicing and renewal; and maintenance and removal of existing telephone plant.  We also offer complete solutions related to voice, CATV and high speed internet access.  Our power group constructs both underground and aerial distribution installations for a number of regional power utilities.

     We hold multi-year contracts with investor owned power utilities and perform the same construction disciplines as we do in our other divisions.  Our Gas Division performs both mainline and service installations on plastic and steel distribution systems.  Since we have multi-year contracts with gas utilities, we have crews working on a daily basis.  We also provide cathodic protection services, gas leak surveys, meter change out and construct compressor stations.

     Our water division focuses on all aspects of the water business and performs work for municipalities, investor owned utilities, FDOT and private companies.  We also compliment all of our lines of work with the ability to perform large directional drilling in order to meet the needs of our customers.
