Hewitt Contracting Company was founded in 1963 as a Florida Corporation. It is privately held and owned principally by Mr. Howard Hewitt. Corporate headquarters is located in Leesburg, Florida with satellite offices strategically placed to best serve our customers. Hewitt Contracting Companies perform work for customers throughout the entire state of Florida and the Southeast. We have the necessary personnel, equipment, expertise and financial wherewithall to handle a broad range of projects.

     Hewitt Contracting is a Florida Department of Transportation certified contractor, specializing in medium to large heavy construction projects.  Projects previously completed include major roadway projects, landfill construction, airport construction, large site developments including both commercial and residential sites, and bridges. The majority of all major components on every project we are involved in are performed by Hewitt employees. 

In 1997 Hewitt Contracting expanded into other sectors of the road construction business and purchased a local construction company that specializes in small to medium site development such as subdivisions and shopping centers. That company operates under Superior Asphalt of Central Florida, Inc.

In 1998, Hewitt Contracting Company, Inc. started Hewitt Power & Communications which performs work for municipalities, competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC's), utilities, private industry and the government. The communications side of the business� focuses on duct and manhole systems; trenching and boring; plowing; tunneling; maintenance; cable pulling and splicing. Aerial capabilities include pole, guy and anchor placement; cable splicing and renewal; and maintenance and removal of existing telephone plant. We also offer complete solutions related to voice, CATV and high speed internet access. In addition to these services, we offer turn-key design build solutions along with gas and power distribution work capabilities.

In 2000 Hewitt Contracting, Inc. established Hewitt Environmental Systems which is a Roll Off dumpster business to compliment the two construction debris landfills that we own. Hewitt Landfills and Borrow Pits also supply fill dirt and clay to the construction industry.

Hewitt is also partnered with UCM, which buys and sells  used construction equipment.
